Survival of the fittest throughout the days of the week

Scream, shout, and let it all out. It’s tough to keep in feelings that only seem to eat your insides away. It’s a terrible feeling, and you’d do anything to get rid of it. Throw those nasty feelings into the¬†flames and watch it wither away into ashes. What’s stopping you? Oh wait, you were told to “control yourself”, “take a deep breath”, “take a step back”. Still, you do exactly what they tell you to do but your clenched fists maintain its position and heat in great measures is taken in and out of your nostrils. The last thing you want to do is to keep yourself composed. Everything around you takes on the disguise of punching bags and your initial reaction is to give blows here and there. They just don’t understand what I’m going through. It’s easier said than done. They don’t realize how much easier it is. If it’s unbearable, don’t bottle it up inside. Do what you can to bring yourself to normal (what’s normal?) state. Let it all out at the most you can afford given where you’re at.

If you’re at school- let your thoughts take on the form of words. Go to the restroom and splash water on your face and let the water drip down your face for a couple or so seconds before wiping your face down. Hold your breath; it’ll force you to take deep breathes in and out.

Good kid

If you’re at home- let your imagination run wild. However, do so with the safety of you, your house, and others. Take your pillow and start hitting your bed with it as hard as you can repeatedly. Go to your garage and scream til your lungs run out of air. Take a walk. You’ll thank mother nature later for its calming effects.

Mad city

Wherever you are, it’s possible to let your anger run wild and free. Take advantage of what’s around you. You’ll be surprised what you can do with the resources around you. Next time those horrible feelings come out, give them a piece of your mind. Whatever battle you may be battling, just know that you’re not alone ūüôā

Good kid, mad city

Music Monday

Gee Gee Gee Gee Baby Baby Baby

So hopefully many of you listen to music because its a pretty awesome and powerful thing. But how many of you listen to music in a different language? From a different country? Well one type of music that has hit America really hard is Korean pop music, or Kpop. Now before you get out your pitch forks, you should really try it. I really only listen to one group from Korea and that’s Girls’ Generation.

Girls GenerationGirls’s Gen. is a group of 9 young ladies (from left to right¬†Taeyeon,¬†Hyoyeon,¬†Seohyun,¬†Sooyoung,Yoona,¬†Jessica,¬†Tiffany,¬†Sunny¬†and¬†Yuri)¬†and they are one of the largest musical groups in the world. They have around Asia and have come over to the US for numerous interviews and guest appearances, as well as to preform during their world tour. They have won many awards, including one that is pretty amazing and that’s video of the year for Youtube. With their song “I Got A Boy” reaching over 80 million views, it was a well deserved award.

Girl’s Genration first made its way to America with their song Gee in 2009. Now they have fans all around the world and are a well loved and respected group. Now with their recent uprising with I Got A Boy and their newest song Mr.Mr. they have once again lit the flame in America for Kpopp

When listening to Kpop music, at least i have no idea what they’re saying, and to a point that can be better. When you don’t know what they’re saying, it leaves it open to interpenetration, plus is sounds better because you just automatically assume everything is better in a different language. At the very least what’s the harm in trying something new right? Here are some more songs by them and other groups. By the way, their music videos are ten times better than America’s and will always make you laugh (whether they’re trying to or not).

Monday Morning

The pitch black engulfs you into nothingness. You peel away the covers only to feel a sensation of cool. The hairs of the back of your neck go up and goosebumps begin to trickle along your skin. You feel the urge to go back to sleep but the thrill of having more time lures you into a wake state of doing. Your arms go as high as the ceiling and a trembling vibration goes through your body as a yawn fills your body with the morning presence. As soon as the robe is slipped on, the warmth takes over the cool and a sense of comfort and ease is put in its place. The sky paints with the different variations of orange. The traveling sunlight glides along your window pane creating a silhouette on the floor of the room. The ombre effect of the darkest shade of orange to the lightest hue of blue fills the canvas of nothingness. You realize that it’s because of this you woke up this morning.

Mellow Monday.

As soon as i opened my eyes i knew i was sick. As if it weren’t bad enough it was Monday, i was sick. ¬†Would my parents, both working in the medical field, force me to go to school? They usually did, unless i had a fever or was visibly sick. In the 10 minutes it took to get dressed and make my way to the kitchen, i already felt worse. Headache, body aches, and a I could barely swallow my own saliva. Being sick is gross and if i didn’t look bad enough one quick look in the mirror assured me i wasn’t going to school. Of course nobody really cared, but hey missing a day of the week I’ll take Monday.

So a day off, it has its good and bad points.  It can be a very productive day if i decide to tough through the pain and try to get things done, such as this very blog. But i soon realized looking at the computer screen made my head throb like it was being hit repeatedly. I guess its just a lazy day for me.

I fall asleep, thinking its for 5 minutes, and waking up to find out I’ve been asleep for 5 hours. I don’t feel better, breaking into a cold sweat my mom hands me the thermometer to find out how sick i really am. 101.4 it reads. Nothing major but a good enough reason not to do anything. Realizing I’d be in math class right now, i remember all the make up homework I’m going to have to do. That’s the worst part about being missing something, not only do you miss the hands on experience, you have to do most of it on your own and you’re behind everyone else.

Now i get sick often, but with this cold i knew i couldn’t even walk around the house, let alone get things done. So what to do? I could play my Pokemon game and try to catch ’em all. 5 minutes in I’m almost blind. How do you overcome this feeling, I’ve just slept for an extra 5 hours, how am i supposed to sleep more. I stare at the ceiling wishing this sickness would go away. My body is supposed to be working extra hard, the extra heat from my fever makes reactions happen faster, getting rid of the virus in my body. But i feel so weak. Slowly i fall asleep again, another 2 hours of nothing go by. Realizing sleep actually does help, i can look at my computer screen, asking my friends what i missed during the day. Apparently almost every class had a fun day, my friends adding extra detail to rub it in my face. I roll my eyes and realize i have to eat something. Mom made rice and chicken. One bite and i can feel my throat burn. “I can’t eat” i say to her, making my way back to my room where I’ve been the entire day. I look at the clock, realizing its already 9. I’ts already time to sleep ¬†and get ready for tomorrow. Under the covers i smile, I did absolutely nothing productive today. Now i want to sleep and actually do something with my life tomorrow.

Mighty Monday

Today marks the day of spirit week, where each day you dress up according to the theme of that day. As you might have guessed, today was “Mighty Monday”. You dress up as your favorite superhero or as your very own version of a superhero.

To those who dressed up, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of confidence they had. Even for those who had the most bizarre, funny, ridiculous, superhero costume; they stood out among the crowd with the energy they had.¬†It’s funny because I never really thought of a costume having much value. Yeah, I enjoyed dressing up and showing my costume off but I always thought to myself, “What’s the point?”¬†Today made me realize how powerful a costume really is.

I know a friend who barely speaks a word a day. Don’t get me wrong; she’s a complete sweetheart and will win your heart over once you got to know her. However, her shyness masks her admiring qualities and she’s not taken to notice. Until today, she would never dress up on spirit days. Like me, she never really saw any point in it. The reaction I had when I saw her in her costume would resemble the reaction of the people when they saw Cinderella gracefully walking down the spiral staircase in her drop-dead gorgeous gown- mouth gaping madness. Her costume was so clever and was also just the cutest superhero costume by far. Instead of a mask, she hand-painted her mask and was meticulous to get every detail right and expanded on it by adding in her own details. She outlined the mask with gold tinted paint and made an ombre effect going from left to right. It was absolutely amazing! As for the cape, she simply made it from a T-shirt that her father didn’t wear anymore and was far too big for her:

She got every detail right, and even went far and beyond the norm. People took notice and some even went up to her and complimented on her artfully crafted costume personally. As more and more people came up to her, she stepped out of comfort zone one step at a time. Soon, a thank you would turn into a continuous conversation. Never in the few years I knew her have I seen her so happy and comfortable talking to people. That very day she succeeded in conquering her own weakness and joined the best superhero organization out there: P.L.N. ( Personal Learning ¬† Network) Read my teacher’s blog for more information on how to join the P.L.N. :

The moral of the story is…to dress up on spirit days. Just kidding! When you are as shy as my dear friend, you can easily lose sight of yourself and your fears involving social contact are ¬†greatly increased as the end of the year comes near. You begin to blame yourself and become convinced that being you will never cut out in the real world. It takes a hidden identity to mask your fear and reveal to others who you truly are. Instead of waiting for a spirit day to come, make your own hidden identity. This is where make-believe comes in handy. Let your imagination run wild; pretend you’re wearing a mask, pretend that the people you see aren’t really people but imaginary friends, pretend to be your favorite actor/singer and think of how they would act in that very moment. ¬†Don’t wait for the “perfect moment”; make your own moments and be in charge for the future events in your life…Boy, I really wish I had dress up today.

Movie Monday (Gravity)

(If you don’t want to read this before you watch the movie, just know you need to see this in 3D and in IMAX and the biggest screen you can find. )

I really don’t think people understand how amazing this movie is.

On sunday, 10/6, i went to see the new movie Gravity. Now i had the fortunate opportunity to see it in IMAX 3D XD which basically meant it was the biggest theater and it had the best quality of all other screens in that theater.¬†Before seeing the movie i had only known that Sandra Bullock and George Clooney were the main stars of the movie, and since Sandra Bullock is my number one favorite actress of all time, i knew i had to go and see it. ¬†The basis of the movie is a Dr. Stone, played by Sandra, was a new astronaut sent into space to do some research with a few other people who had more training than her, making her the new, more frightened “puppy” of the group. As the movie continues you find out the Russian’s had decided to blow up one of their own satellites, in the process it created a chain reaction that flew debris everywhere including right where the research was being done. Now the first ten minutes were quiet and peaceful talking about how really spectacular it was up there, the view, the sunrise, the stars, everything about space was truly beautiful. But as soon as you find out the debris is coming right for them, you are on the edge of your seat for the rest of the movie. Now its no big surprise they get hit, but it is truly amazing how they capture Dr. Stone spinning out of control, breathing heavily, having the camera from inside her helmet so you can see the panic in her eyes and see how fast she really is moving. Remember your in space, there is no gravity, no sound, nothing to hold onto, once your moving you don’t stop until you hit something else. As she finally catches her breath, the Captain of the group comes in contact with her through their radio, telling her to calm down since shes using all her oxygen and she needs to get a visual of either their space station, the sun, something for him to look at since he had a jet pack on. She slows her breathing and he rescues her and brings her back to their original location. The entire thing is just destroyed and everyone who was with them killed, they are the sole survivors of the group. I want to stop there because after that i literally was crying 75% of the time at just how amazing the movie and the acting was. I would see it again in a heartbeat.

Why is this movie so amazing though? Every part of the movie has you gasping and crying and you didn’t have a single moment to breath because not only did the you feel like you were in space, you felt like you were Dr. Stone herself. The visuals. I don’t know how many awards they give out for visual affects but this one is taking all of them. NO joke, this movie was made to please the eyes 100% of the time. Not only did it just look beautiful the camera shots were flawless. They had scenes where the camera was spinning and Dr. Stone was spinning and your just like how can i not throw up right now, but you don’t feel that way. You feel like how can this women come back from this much loss of control and how can she stop and look around and see what’s happening. You feel every emotion with the character. Not only that but there was never a point in the movie where your just like “oh green screen.” Never. As soon as your in, you in. For the entire movie.

Now this movie not only left me with wanting to stand up and applaud, but with a smile on my face leaving the theater telling everyone about it. I wasn’t even embarrassed that i was the only one in my family crying, that’s just how much it moved me. Not only that, but it left everyone with the great message of fighting for not only what you believe in, but for yourself. To find that inner power that only comes in times of trouble, that without wouldn’t make the human race what it is. I recommend this movie to anyone who doesn’t get super dizzy super fast, and can handle a bit of suspense. Maybe you won’t like it if you don’t have a soul? Or human struggles? Maybe? But seriously everyone needs to go watch the movie, and watch it in 3D, because for once it actually serves a purpose. ¬†Here’s the trailer for the best movie of 2013~
